Physiotherapy for dogs after surgery Tasmania

Post-Surgical Rehabilitation

Following surgery humans will often see a Physiotherapist to help them recover faster, ensure they are doing their exercises correctly and help them return to an active life. Your dog is no different. They require the same care to optimise the surgical outcome, and ensure they return to living their best life.

Following surgery your dog is going to go through a period of adjustment. They are going to move differently than they did before, and it may take them a while to adapt. Post-surgical rehabilitation helps your dog move through this adjustment period. It also ensures that the surgery has the best possible outcome, & that your dog can get back to living their best life quicker. It is also a great option if you lead a busy life and do not have the time to carry out the necessary rehabilitation protocols, but don’t want to jeopardise your dog’s recovery.

Post-surgical rehabilitation requires your vet’s approval. Please advise your vet that I will work with them closely, follow their protocols and provide regular feedback throughout the process.

“After my Cavoodle, Ollie, had luxating patella surgery his recovery started to regress post-op. Having no idea what exercises he should be doing Nicola’s guidance, expertise & care of Ollie has been amazing. Being given easy & progressive exercises to do, with Nicola providing adjustments specific to Ollie’s needs & physical environment, has made a stressful time so much easier. Nicola has also been able to provide referrals to other Canine Specialists with knowledge about supplements & diet to aid specific issues. I highly recommend Nicola. She has a genuine love of animals that is clear to see, & I am so grateful for the change in Ollie who is enjoying an active & chaotic life again”!
